Title:Preparation and Study on Polar-SBS/PS Blending Thermoelastomer
Writer: Fanxue Meng

Supervisor: Wei Wu

Abstract:PSBS/PS thermoelastomer was prepared by blending extrusion method. The processability, mechanical properties, thermal properties and micro-morphologies were studied. The effects of PS content, softening agent, inorganic filling and chemical crosslinking on the properties of PSBS/PS thermoelastomer were discussed.

The results showed the processability of PSBS was effectively enhanced by blending with PS, and PSBS/PS thermoelastomer had better processing behavior when the PS content was 40~50wt%; with the content of PS increasing, the tensile strength and bending strength were improved, but elongation at break was down; The desirable PS content was 50wt%. The addition of softening agent-naphthenic oil could improve the blend’s processability, but decreased its mechanical strength. When ultrafine-CaCO3 content was about 30wt%, the combined properties of PSBS/PS/ultrafine-CaCO3 thermoelastomer were admirable, and the reinforcement effect was even better when the ultrafine-CaCO3 was treated with dispersant. Proper addition of DCP could initiate crosslinking of S and B chains, form small crosslinked particles and improve the mechanical properties of the system; the desirable DCP content was about 0.3wt%.

From the theory of PSBS/PS melt blending, it could be seen that when adding little amount of PS, the “physical crosslinking” role of “S” section became stronger; when further increasing the content of PS, the micro-morphology changed to common-continuum morphology with “S” and ”B” chains interlocking.
