Properties of Polyamide 6 Modified by the Poly (styrene-acrylamide)/ OMMT Core-shell Structure Particles

Abstract: Polystyrene/ polyacrylamide /organic montmorillonite core-shell particles were synthesized through emulsion polymerization and used to modify polyamide6, their influence on mechanical properties, process ability, crystallization behavior , and thermal stability of PA6 composites was investigated. By the inclusion of the core2shell particles, the flexible strength and modulus were increased by1.44 and 3.46%, respectively, based on neat PA6. The core-shell structure particles acted as nucleating agent, which increased the crystallization temperature of PA6 by 8.5℃ and the degree of crystallinity by 3. 3 %. The PA6 composites also showed a good thermal stability and process ability, and the melt flow rate was increased by118 %.
