Writer: Sanxiong He, Wei Wu, Ru Wang Publication: CHINA PLASTICS INDUSTRY, 2011,27(2):47-49 Abstract: PA6/SEBS-g-MAH/OMMT blends were prepared using melting extrusion technique, with maleated styrene-ethylene/butadiene-styrene triblock copolymers and OMMT served as the toughening agent and reinforcing filler, respectively, and GMA as a compatibilizer for the blends. The influences of SEBS-g-MAH, OMMT and GMA on the mechanical properties and rheological behaviors of the blend were investigated by mechanical and capillary rheology tests. The results showed that the notched impact strength was improved, while the strength and modulus could almost remain unchanged and got good comprehensive mechanical property. Both PA6 and its blends were pseudo plastic fluid, and the non-Newtonian indexes of the blends were 0.603~0.931 at 230~260℃. The apparent viscosity of the blends reduced with the increase of the shearing stress. Compared with pure PA6, the addition of SEBS-g-MAH, OMMT and/or GMA increased the apparent viscosity and decreased viscous flow activation energy. The blends could be processed over a wide temperature at a constant shearing stress.
