The core of the multilayered core-shell structure was organic montmorillonite, the inner tier shell was polystyrene and the outer most shell was polyacrylamide. Core-shell structure particles were used to modify nylon6 as a modifier. The morphology of core shell structure and the mechanical properties of the polyamide6 (PA6) engineering plastics modified by it were characterized. The results show that the layers of organic Montmorillonite (OMMT) have been fully exfoliated and the molecular chains of polystyrene (PS) have been intercalated into the galleries of OMMT in the core-shell structure. Polyacrylamide (PAM) has also been grafted onto the surface of the core-shell structure successfully. The adding of the core-shell structure can greatly improve the mechanical properties of PA6 (the tensile modulus increased by 204% and the flexile modulus increased by 787%). |
