Synthesis of Molecular Wire Material: Polypyrrole/Cyclodextrins Polypseudorotaxane

Abstract: The structural material of polypyrrole/ cyclodextrins polypseudorotaxane was synthesized by oxidative polymerization of pyrrole in the presence ofα-cyclodextrin (α-CD) and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD).The micro-structure, micro-morphology and conductive performance of polypseudorotaxanes were characterized by infrared spectrometry (IR) , wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD),elemental analysis, scanning electronmicroscope(SEM),four-point probe andc yclevoltammetry (CV) . Theresultsindicatethat the molar ratio of α-CD to pyrrole is 1:5 and β-C d to pyrrole is 1:24 in the polypseudorotaxanes. Compared to polypyrrole, conductivity of polypseudorotaxanes decreases significantly, and redox reversibility of polypseudorotaxanes is reduced. This material have vast prospect in the application of molecular wire.
