Abstract: Poly (ethylene terephthalate) /poly (ethylene-2, 6-naphthalate) (PET/PEN) blends were prepared via a twin-screw melt extrusion in different composions. The melting and crystallization properties of PET/ PEN blends were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). It is found that the two-phase structure PET/ PEN blends are partially compatible. With the same content of PET and PEN in blends, two continuous phase of partly compatible and overlaping with each other were formed. DSC curves of the cooling process show the formation of separate crystals. But when the content of these condcomponent is low, there might be some co-crystallites. The chain and segment of PET and PEN wrap and interact between each other, which interfereing the crystallization process of molecules, leading to the crystallization imperfection and lower crystallinity during the cooling process. Like pure PET and pure PEN, PET/PEN blends also show the cold crystallization tendency.
